Sanjana Janardhanan

Program Officer

Sanjana joins the Saving Brains team at Grand Challenges Canada, where she manages a portfolio of investments that improve early childhood and brain development outcomes for children across the world.

Prior to this, Sanjana worked at the ELMA Philanthropies, as Program Officer for Early Childhood Development in Southern Africa. In this role, she was instrumental in supporting work that built the national early childhood ecosystem, the sector’s pandemic response, as well as built new portfolios of work in gender-based violence and refugee-support.

Sanjana has had several years of experience working with early-stage innovation in Southern Africa and India. Her work across these geographies focused on triggering collaboration on topics as diverse as poverty alleviation, youth employment, empathy-based education and nutrition. She hopes to continue driving resources and innovation towards a world where every child and young person thrives.

Sanjana has an MSc in Media and Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She currently resides on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishnabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee and Wendat peoples (Toronto).

Grand Challenges Canada’s programs are primarily undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada.
