Deepika Devadas is a Program Officer with the Every Woman Every Child Innovation Marketplace, a strategic alliance of development innovation organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and UBS Optimus Foundation. The Innovation Marketplace is hosted at Grand Challenges Canada.
Deepika has a background in biomedical research and project management with 8 years of international experience. She holds a PhD in Infection Biology from the Hannover Medical School in Germany with a focus on virology. She also completed her graduate and undergraduate training in microbiology from the University of Nottingham in the UK and the University of Mumbai in India respectively. Prior to joining Grand Challenges Canada, Deepika conducted interdisciplinary research in breast cancer and microfluidics for organ-on-a-chip technology at the University of Toronto. She also pursued her interests in public health, business strategy and commercialization through consulting case competitions, courses like the MaRS Entrepreneurship program and volunteering at the Kensington hospice in downtown Toronto.
