Lihawu Male Mentoring Camp is a 3-day camp for young men and boys (15-29 years), based on a traditional Bantu initiation camp with the objective of increasing HIV prevention, gender equitable beliefs and health seeking behavior among young men in Eswatini. The project will achieve this through challenging the harmful social norms that promote violence and HIV in Eswatini in a youth-friendly male space. Topics discussed include masculinity, sex, relationships and consent, gender- roles and expectations, violence, sexuality, HIV/AIDS. A package of referrals and linkages to health and social services concludes the camp and participants are encouraged to uptake these services as part of their first steps towards long lasting behavior change.
