Kimberley (Kim) Watkins is a Program Associate at Grand Challenges Canada responsible for the management and coordination of the Stars in Global Health program.
Prior to her role at Grand Challenges Canada, Kimberley worked in the Planning and Research Unit of the Ministry of Health, Barbados as a Health Planner where she managed the Pan American Health Organization’s (PAHO) Biennial Work Program for Barbados. This involved aligning the strategic priorities and focal areas of PAHO/WHO with the current health challenges facing the island. Working in collaboration with local, regional and international counterparts, Kim assisted in the development of various health system strengthening initiatives which included Health Financing Reform, National Health Accounts and Health Satellite Accounts.
She is a Certified Project Management Professional and holds a Master’s degree in Project Management and Evaluation from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad de Camagüey in Cuba. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of citizens from developing countries. As a former Rotaractor, she has volunteered and raised funds with various organizations to address issues affecting women and disabled children in her community.
