Julie is Ojibway from Rama/Mnjikaning First Nation and is a member of the Muskellunge clan. As the Director of the Indigenous Innovation Initiative, Julie leads the I3 team at GCC to support and grow innovative First Nation, Inuit and Métis businesses and social enterprises.
As an enthusiastic lifelong learner she has enjoyed a balance of formal institutional learning and traditional learning on the land, storytelling and in ceremony. After years of studying and working abroad, she returned to Turtle Island to take up work in service to Indigenous peoples. Her experience includes work in holistic health and well-being, national First Nations transformational education policy, and supporting Indigenous self-determination through self-governance initiatives which led to the publication of historical research on traditional forms of Anishinaabe governance.
