Farhad Jawid is a Program Officer at Grand Challenges Canada, managing the OPTions Initiatives portfolio.
Farhad has more than two decades of experience working in various management positions internationally in the humanitarian sector. Between 2002 to 2020 he has been a Country Director, a Social Marketing Channel Director and a Policy Advisor with Care International, Médecins Sans Frontières and Marie Stopes International in the United States, the United Kingdom and in Afghanistan. He has led many humanitarian programs, social marketing programs and policy change initiatives, including access to safe abortion and the introduction of tubal ligation, Implant and Sayana Press in his programs.
Farhad has provided rich insights to develop sexual reproductive health policies and strategies in Islamic states and helping to navigate sensitive subjects such as abortion in complex cultures. Most recently, he was invited as a guest lecturer at the Global Health Education Initiative programmes for postgraduate medical trainees at University of Toronto and at McGill University. Farhad earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Westminster.
