David is the Deputy Director of the Indigenous Innovation Initiative, and focuses primarily on governance, policy and partner relations.
A securities lawyer by training, David served as Assistant Secretary of the Governing Council at the University of Toronto since 2013. Before that, he worked at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in the Legal, Economic and Social Affairs Section. He began his career as a Corporate Associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York City, where he practiced primarily in Capital Markets. He is called to the New York State Bar. David holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Trinity College and a Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. He also teaches at the U of T Faculty of Law in the area of Aboriginal Law and Policy.
David is Anishinaabe, and a member of the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation.
