Aziz Froutan (he/him) possesses over 15 years of extensive experience in media, public relations, and strategic communications, with a strong focus on women’s and children’s rights. Before joining Grand Challenges Canada, Aziz served as the Bilingual Communications and Marketing Manager at the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking.
His career began in journalism, working as a journalist, correspondent, and producer with renowned media outlets such as Radio France International and the BBC from 2003 to 2010 in Paris and Kabul. Aziz then transitioned to UNICEF, where he worked as a Communication Specialist in Afghanistan, India, Cameroon, and Burundi, leading initiatives to promote children’s rights, advocate for education, and support health campaigns.
In addition to his professional roles, Aziz volunteered his time to help several organizations’ communications efforts in supporting refugees and newcomers.
He holds a master’s degree in journalism from France. Throughout his career, he has emphasized the importance of ethical reporting, prioritizing protection, fostering collaboration, and amplifying the voices and stories of the most vulnerable women and children supported by various programs and initiatives. Aziz is currently based in Toronto, Canada.
