"DREAM GIRLS" engages fathers and daughters with an educational intervention aimed at preventing child marriage in Torit, South Sudan. The intervention jointly targets fathers and daughters through 1) educating fathers on the advantages of delaying early marriage 2) providing empowerment and life skills training to the girls using a proven UNICEF package (Adolescent Kit for expression and innovation) and 3) providing a small loan to the fathers for a joint business venture with their daughters. Fathers of adolescents will be recruited by male community health workers (CHWs) and go through an education program on the benefits of delayed marriage over a 3-week period. The project will also establish a revolving fund to provide no interest loans for small business ventures.
