The project will design, build and test the “EmpowrMe” App targeted towards adolescent boys and girls living in low income urban areas in Managua, Nicaragua. Through its holistic approach to adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR), gender norms and expectations, the app will address “soft” life skills to forge one’s future. The app will provide educational content on SRHR, gender equality, “soft” life skills such as leadership, conflict management, and life plan development. Information on where to access sexual health services and counseling in Managua will be provided through the app. Trained youth mentors will provide peer support to adolescent App users and to motivate users to engage fully with the App.
