The Swasti Health Catalyst project empower female sex workers (FSWs) and transgender women (TG) in Bangalore, India to access health and legal information and services related to mental health, sex reassignment surgery, HIV and STI prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and gender-based violence through a multi-channel innovation. This includes medical safe spaces, training peer health promoters/counselors, and building a health information app. The four medical safe spaces provide basic health services to FSWs and TGs and five peer health promoters are trained to identify early signs of mental health issues and make referrals to expert care. A freely available app is being developed for PSWs and TGs and this will provide relevant sexual health information, resources and linkages to medical safe spaces and other LGBTQ friendly health care providers in the city.
