The She Matters project will facilitate retention of girls in primary schools by ensuring appropriate Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) through teaching girls and mothers’ group members how to make reusable sanitary pads using locally available materials in Dowa and Ntchisi district in Malawi. The project will also conduct community-based discussions on MHM to reduce stigma and mobilize community support to advocate with school management committees to construct adequate toilet facilities for girls in 20 primary schools in Dowa and Ntchisi districts. Health service providers, teachers and male champions will be trained to provide MHM information and counseling to girls in the districts.
