The project seeks to improve menstrual hygiene management (MHM) within the prison system in Rwanda, by training 200 female inmates in four prisons on how to produce simple, affordable and reusable menstrual pads. Inmates will be trained to train fellow inmates in the production of reusable pads. Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and MHM education campaigns targeting 3,500 women across four prisons will be conducted and 40 female inmates will be selected to form menstrual hygiene care teams to advocate for adequate water and sanitation facilities in the prisons.
