The project will create a multi-stakeholder social accountability platform to raise awareness and advocate for the enforcement of the Marriage, Divorce and Family Relations Act which was adopted in 2015 and set the minimum age of marriage at 18 years in Mchinji district, Malawi. The social accountability platform will utilize tools such as citizen hearings, community score cards, and public expenditure tracking surveys to enable young women, adolescent girls and local communities to engage with policy and decision makers on ending early and forced marriages. Radio and social media campaigns will be held to empower girls and women with the skills and knowledge to advocate for the implementation of the Marriage, Divorce and Family Relations Act as it pertains to early and forced marriage.
