Start Date: 01/01/2019- End Date: 31/03/2021

Project Lead(s): Suhani Mohan

Over 85% of women and girls in India use homemade alternatives – such as an old cloth, rags, hay, sand, or ash – to manage their periods. Saral has designed the world’s first fully-automatic and compact machine to produce low cost, ultra-thin, safe and hygenic pads via a decentralized set-up. Through a unique business model, Independent entrepreneurs or NGOs can leverage Saral's machinery and support to deliver high quality, customizable pads in their local areas.
