Karma: A unique telemedicine model providing primary healthcare to India's rural patients

FacebookTwitterLinked In

Start Date: 30/06/2019- End Date: 30/09/2021

Patients in rural India lack access to essential primary care, including reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health services. Karma provides affordable and reliable primary healthcare to low-income people in rural India using a unique telemedicine model. Karma operates 16 'e-Doctor' clinics that provide accessible nurse-assisted online medical consultations with qualified and specialist doctors and diagnostic services. Each clinic is staffed with a trained nurse who conducts an initial patient work-up and facilitates a real-time doctor-patient consultation over video conference. Patient health records, prescribed treatments and other health data are electronically captured, stored and retrieved on a digital platform to help caregivers make more informed decisions.
