FacebookTwitterLinked In

Start Date: 31/03/2019- End Date: 31/03/2020

Project Lead(s): Monica Oguttu

The Uterine Balloon Tamponade (UBT) has emerged as an effective intervention for arresting postpartum uterine blood loss and has been shown to be a life-saving intervention, especially in low-resource settings. The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has developed a low-cost package called Every Second Matters for Mothers and Babies Uterine Balloon Tamponade (ESM-UBT), which includes the UBT device as well as a training curriculum. In Kenya, MGH has partnered with Kisumu Medical and Education Trust to introduce and help scale the use ESM-UBT package in the country.
