Start Date: 30/06/2018- End Date: 31/12/2021

This project provides a one-hour class to young girls - led by dynamic, relatable peer educators - that reveals the lethal risk of dating older men (45% of Botswana's men have HIV). The information empowers girls by providing life-saving information; armed with this knowledge, girls choose to date similar-age males instead, where the risk of both HIV and pregnancy is dramatically lower. Shown to reduce teenage pregnancy in both Kenya and Botswana by 28% and 40%, respectively, this program will be updated with a rich set of context lessons recently generated in Botswana, while testing impact on STIs, scaling up with routine monitoring in Botswana, and contextualizing for a neighbouring country in the region.
