New, low-cost, easy-to-use screening and phototherapy treatment technologies enable the proposed redesign of care delivery in low- and middle-income countries to save infant brains, by shifting care from specialists and hospitals to community health workers (CHW) and homes. CHW-led prevention during pregnancy will be integrated with timely household screening and treatment. Infants will be reached and treated before brain damage occurs, improving child development.
