Healthy Entrepreneurs (HE) deploys a last-mile distribution model to deliver affordable, reliable health products and services to the poorest women in rural areas, via a network of trained micro-entrepreneurs who distribute goods that target the health of children under five (with products like anti-malaria medications, zinc and oral rehydration salts), while also addressing the sexual and reproductive health and rights for women and adolescent girls (with items such as sanitary pads, condoms and contraception). Funding will support the expansion from 4 to 11 districts in southwestern Uganda, and from one to two provinces in the DRC, increasing the total number of micro-entrepreneurs by over 2,500. These micro-entrepreneurs (over 75% women) will develop health and business skills, as well as a stable source of income.
