Sixty percent of Indian low-weight babies are born in hospitals with limited or no specialized neonatal care, which means they need to be transferred to a more specialized hospital. Due to a lack of reliable transport options, parents are often forced to use unsafe methods of transportation, such as motorbikes. The Kangubator is a safe, low-cost inflatable jacket that allows any adult to act as a human incubator during transport of preterm and low birth weight newborns, thus reducing mortalities related to transportation care.
