Pamela Kanellis PhDProgram Officer
Pamela Kanellis is a Program Officer with Grand Challenges Canada. Dr. Kanellis leads the Non-Communicable Diseases portfolio and supports the development and implementation of other Grand Challenges Canada initiatives. She is currently working on the Grand Challenges Canada initiative in global mental health that aims to improve treatments and expand access to care in low- and middle-income countries. Additionally, in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Canadian Stroke Network, Dr. Kanellis is working to tackle hypertension in low- and middle-countries and aboriginal communities through implementation research.
Dr. Kanellis was formerly a Senior Consultant with SHI Consulting, a strategy through implementation consulting firm focused exclusively on the health and life sciences sector. While at SHI Consulting, she gained experience in developing health research strategies, conducting market assessments, partnership development and business planning, working with clients from academia, biopharmaceutical industry and the non-profit sector.
Dr. Kanellis earned a PhD in Molecular and Medical Genetics from the University of Toronto focused in the areas of cancer, genome stability and DNA damage/repair mechanisms.
