Director of Finance and Administration
Claude Briand is the Director of Finance and Administration for Grand Challenges Canada.
Mr. Briand ’s main responsibility is to define the process and implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support the financial and administrative goals of the organization. More specifically, he is managing effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology, human resources and physical infrastructure.
Mr. Briand began his career with an audit firm from the private sector before joining the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. For more than twenty years, he has been working at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), both at head office in Ottawa and two regional offices (New Delhi, India and Dakar, Senegal). He has occupied various positions at IDRC, in internal audit, financial services and grant administration.
Mr. Briand has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
