IMPLEMENTATION RESEARCH ON HYPERTENSION IN LOW- AND MIDDLE-INCOME COUNTRIES
The program aims to support innovative solutions for the implementation of high blood pressure prevention and control in low- and middle-income countries and aboriginal communities in Canada and abroad. In partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the International Development Research Centre and the Canadian Stroke Network; Grand Challenges Canada is taking an integrated innovation approach to hypertension — the coordinated application scientific/technological, social and business innovation to develop solutions to this complex challenge.
Integrated innovations in global mental health
This program on global mental health is seeking innovative solutions for improving treatments and expanding access to mental health care in low- and middle-income countries. Nearly 14% of the global burden of disease is attributable to mental health disorders, with almost three quarters of this burden affecting people in low- and middle-income countries. To address this complex problem, Grand Challenges Canada is looking for solutions that take an Integrated Innovation approach, have the potential for real world impact and demonstrate a path to scale and sustainability.
